What are the key strategies for Website Development

Developing a website can be quite a challenging process and at times a bit chaotic as well. There are a few steps that should be followed to ensure that everything turns out to be smooth. Having a set of guidelines can bring some sort of order into the chaos. It helps to clearly divide the various stages of web design and development. These include research, plan, design, development and coding, test and launch and maintenance of the website.

The research phase can be the most crucial stage of the whole project. It is very important to understand the requirements of the client and then conceptualize the whole thing. The more clarity you have about what the client wants, the more successful you will be achieving the end.

The next stage is that of planning when you put together all the information that you have gathered from the client and make a plan of action to go ahead with the ideas. This is more or less like a site map that you need to have even before you prepare the actual site map for the website.  Once there is adequate information about the site, then the framing process can be started to develop the architecture, functionality and content of the site.

Next comes design. This is the stage when the ideas come to life. The home page comes followed by the content pages. It is important to get a feedback from the client at this stage so that you know you are on the right track. It requires good communication skills so that the ideas are exchanged properly. Changes can be made at this stage rather than asking for it when the coding is done. It is also necessary to ensure that the company logo integrates perfectly with the design of the website.  Designers should choose colors and schemes based on the end user or the site’s targeted audience.

Development and coding of the website come next in line. The website is made during this staged by using generic HTML and CSS template. The home page is developed first followed by the rest of the pages. Once the structure is created, the content can be uploaded. Other site elements such as e-commerce shopping carts, interactive contact forms and flash animations are also developed during this phase of website creation.

Once you have put in all the hard work, it’s time to test whether all the elements on the website are working or not. You need to test the links, the pages, the content and the forms. It is necessary that the website is tested on various browsers and devices to check that its functionalities are working fine.

Once the site is up and running, it is necessary to check that all its aspects are working fine. In fact, such maintenance activities should be carried out at frequent intervals in order to ensure uninterrupted services to the end users.
